Our History
Established in 1997 by eleven like-minded physicians, IEP set as its goal to change the business face of Emergency Medicine.
Beginning with one contract at Providence Hospital, Southfield Michigan, we created a unique partnership organized around democratic decision making and equal ownership. Since that time as a measure of our success, we have added sites at Garden City Hospital, St. Joseph Mercy-Oakland and Allegiance Health System.

Independent Emergency Physicians, P.C., promotes the health and well-being of patients and their families by partnering with healthcare systems that are committed to excellence in emergency medical care. Through democratic values and shared responsibility among its members, Independent Emergency Physicians achieves it vision of high quality, cost effective clinical care, education and advocacy for patients and their families.
Mission
IEP advocates high quality healthcare delivered by professionals board certified in emergency medicine. Our members are full-time emergency physicians dedicated to each hospital and its vision. We strive for excellence in emergency medicine through the commitment of each member to our patients and organization. Our equal and open partnership allows us to foster this mission.
