The Facility
Garden City Hospital, a 260-bed facility, is located in suburban Detroit, 15 miles west of the city. This 36-bed Emergency Department services approximately 45,000 patients annually.
The department is divided into 5 treatment areas: A 5-Bed Acute Care Unit designed to meet the needs of trauma patients and more critically ill medical patients; a 10-bed Chest Pain/Observation Unit which services the moderately acute chest pain patient and patients with moderate medical and surgical complaints; a 7-bed Specialty Area for patients requiring gynecologic, ophthalmology and orthopedic evaluation; and a 6 –bed Fast Track Unit for patients with minor medical and surgical problems that can be treated within 1 hour.
The department is staffed 24 hours a day by Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians and supports an A.O.A. accredited Emergency Medicine Residency. The hospital staff provides 24 hour on-call for all specialties including, neurosurgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, ENT and ophthalmology.
