Didactics

Conferences are designed to give residents a solid foundation in EM and to provide them with the educational tools to continue to learn throughout their careers.  Didactic lectures follow core content from the American College of Emergency Physicians.  Grand rounds, oral board exams, morbidity and mortality, and written questions ensure that the pathology and therapy needed to treat patients is well understood by the resident.

Weekly Wednesday Conferences typically have the following format:

  • 7am - Grand rounds with guest speaker.  All house staff invited.

  • 8am - featured attending lecture

  • 9am - EKG conference

  • 9:30am - x-ray conference

  • 10am - tintinalli/rosen/ Roberts and hedges review

  • 10:30 - oral board review

  • 11am - written board review questions
