Each month our program holds a review of major journal articles pertaining to applicable and often controversial issues in Emergency Medicine. The setting is usually at a local restaurant or a faculty member’s home. Two residents choose and present articles that are reviewed by all other residents and faculty. The primary goal is to determine whether or not the findings will influence and or change practice in the ED. Having the faculty and upper level residents in attendance facilitates a strong analysis of the individual articles and often leads to productive discussions. The atmosphere remains sociable, with residents feeling free to comment on, disagree with and challenge the views and opinions of everyone in attendance. Journal Club is always an enjoyable and productive learning tool, and continues to receive good reviews from the residents and faculty alike. |
