PGY-3/ EMR-2
This
year essentially expands on the PGY-2 year. Residents will spend one month in
Intensive care unit, managing both medical ICU and Surgical ICU patients. Our
residents also spend two months in the second busiest Trauma center in the
country, University Medical Center – Las Vegas. In addition, they will
gain more intense pediatric training while rotating in the Emergency Department
at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Detroit, a Level 1 Pediatric
Emergency and Trauma center. Our EMR-2 curriculum also entails one on one
instruction in Hand Surgery and Plastics at Providence Hospital Novi.
Residents will finish the year with a month of radiology at Garden City, 2 weeks
of CT scan and 2 weeks of emergency US. Efficiency has now become a natural
transformation, and the resident prepares to enter the final phase of training
with either fellowship specialization or clinical practice as the end goal.
