The Facility
Providence Hospital, Southfield is a 384-bed tertiary care facility located in suburban Detroit. The surrounding community is one of the most culturally diverse in the nation. At Providence, more than 900 credentialed physicians in over 50 specialties care for approximately 25,000 inpatients and 10,000 outpatients each year.
This newly constructed emergency department opened in April, 2001. The department has 42 treatment cubicles of which 2/3 are private and services over 60,000 patients annually. Other features include a dedicated state-of-the art Chest Pain Unit providing continuous 12-lead EKG monitoring, a Fast-Track Unit, Decontamination Room and an interdepartmental x-ray suite that uses computerized radiography technology.
The department is staffed 24 hours a day by Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians and the hospital provides 24 hour on-call for most specialties.
